Promote Your Business By Commenting In Press Releases

If you’d like some free publicity, this is a win-win for both of us.

I produce articles on a range of small business topics. Not all of them directly related to my business. But they are topics of interest to other small businesses. So if you are featured, potential customers will get to know you and your company.

Want to see an example? Take a look here: Cutting Corners And Costs To Stay Alive – Small Business Tips

All I ask is that after you have commented, and I send you the draft article, that you give me the thumbs up quickly. I’ll always give precedence to anyone who helps me get them out sooner.

The next 5 topics I’m writing about are:

Social Media – Is It Working For Local Businesses – Survey Reveals All

Brexit – 4 Months Later, Is The Small Business Glass Half-Full Or Half-Empty?

Small Business Stress – How Do You Switch Off?

Tight Cashflow – Tips From Real Business Owners On Keeping It Flowing

Cutting Corners And Costs To Stay Alive – Small Business Tips (done)

Do I have to take part each time, I’m busy you see? No. Each time I am writing an article, I’ll send you a short email. Click the link and comment. Or don’t! The choice is yours. Some of them will also be single question surveys – for example, “What percentage of your new business comes from social media?”. Simply give an estimate, together with a comment on how effective you believe social media is for your business.

How much time does it take? In terms of your time – not alot – a couple of minutes at most, less than a minute often. After all, I just want a quote and your opinion on the topic in question. Either take a call from me to give your opinion, or you can write a sentence or two yourself on a form similar to the one below. Either way, you get to see a draft of the article before it is sent, and you can change your mind or alter your quote.

What’s in it for you? Me? I’m just like you. I want coverage too. I want my name out there. I want to be able to comment and be seen as an active part of the business community. But if I was to do this alone, the articles will be a bit one-sided. It needs opinion from a variety of people and businesses to give some of the topics vitality and freshness.

Important: Preference will be given to those who can either upload a company logo and photograph of themselves, or send it through separately by email later (see form below). After all, I’m doing this for me too, and I will want my logo, photo and link to my website included – particularly for online publications.

What sorts of topics will you talk about? Anything and everything. It could be Brexit and how that is affecting or worrying small businesses. It could be business taxation. Or maybe social media – is it working for anyone? If so how, if not, why not?

And it will be enriched with your own views and you will also get to see the views of others.

Sometimes the article will appear in local papers. Other times, in online articles. And the online articles in particular can link through to your own website so you may even attract some custom directly.

But, you also get an electronic version of each article. You can use those articles yourself – for example upload them to your own website, or, publish them on your news or blog section (all I want in return is to be recognised as the author).

There is no cost to you for any of this whatsoever – just an opportunity for us both to get coverage.

First Questions – Do You Target Small Businesses? And Why Is This Free?

Most local papers nowadays have fewer journalists. And those they have are pushed for time. So if you supply them good quality news stories, there’s a great chance they will publish. The same goes for many online sites. Having a great newsworthy article makes a difference.

But the very best articles are those where you get input or opinion from several, real local businesses. I like to hear what others in business think about topics which affect me. Maybe you do too?

And that’s where we both win. I’ll do all the work producing the article (that’s what I do for a living!). I’ll often be one of the businesses quoted, so I’ll give my opinion too (I want coverage just like you do).

So do you target small businesses? If you do great – most of the topics I’ll cover affect small businesses. But if you target Joe public, that’s okay too, because I will occasionally cover topics that affect us all personally.

It’s free because I specialise in word of mouth. And one important part of word of mouth is being seen talking about issues that are important to businesses.

What else?

Not great at words? Don’t worry – if you agree to comment, I’ll call you, get your opinion and produce the words for you to approve.

Can I see each article before it’s published? Yes. Everyone who is included will see the draft – at that point, you can change your mind and withdraw, or make alterations to what you’ve said.

Is it really free? And is there a catch? Yes, it’s free. And no, there’s no catch. I can’t do this alone. Getting articles published is difficult if you only include your own opinion. It’s the variety of opinion that brings a topic to life. If we all agree on something, it’s good to know there’s a consensus. If we don’t, understanding every perspective of a given topic informs us too. That’s the reason I’m doing it. And the by-product? Publicity for you and me too.
